Northern Lights
An unexpected e-mail from the staff at Basecamp included this shot. Much better than any of the dozen or so I had a go at. What I did learn is that the oooooh, arrrrrrrh factor is not as great in real life as in photographs. The photos of the northern lights are always more vivid. Never the less is was a fantastic end to our holiday.

The France route – mark1
After a fair bit of looking on the internet and through travel guides we have come up with a plan – sort of. As you can see it’s not the most direct route to anywhere but covers a lot of interesting looking places. We are not going to work out an itinery – there are too many variables – weather, fitness, local scenery, good food, geography, wind direction and strength. Maybe We’ll average 50km a day – maybe more, maybe less. It’s a holiday and we have three months.
